On May 15th, Local Vines is welcoming Luigi Valori for a special wine and dine night–Italian style. Read on to learn a little bit more about Luigi and why we at Local Vines think he’s so special.
Luigi Valori has been producing wine on his estate in Abruzzo since 1996 with unrivaled verve and enthusiasm. The 40 year old vines are planted 230M above sea level in the commune of Teramo and are planted mostly to Montepulciano the signature grape of the region. The vineyards have a south-east exposure ensuring plenty of ripe grapes whilst the altitude and proximity to the Adriatic ensure a balancing freshness in the finished wine. Luigi farms his vineyards with respect to the environment and the wines are made with a welcome blend of traditional and modern technology. Valori is a winemaker completely devoted to his vines. A few years ago, Gianni Masciarelli, one of the most well known winemakers in Abbruzzo, fell in love with the wines Luigi is making and he decided to distribute them under the Masciarelli wing. The results have been very good so far; among others, the ‘Wine Enthusiast Magazine’ has put the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo doc Masciarelli Valori among the best wines as value for money.
We’re so excited to host Luigi at Local Vines and taste FIVE of his delicious wines along with some Italian style small bites.
